Betty Ford has passed away at the age of 93. She was the former US first lady and the founder of the revered rehabilitation centre. Ford died at 93.
Betty was the widow of the US’s 38th President Gerald Ford. She passed away peacefully on Friday at Rancho Mirage, California, with loved ones by her side.
US President Barack Obama issued the statement on her death, “She was a powerful advocate for women’s health and women’s rights. After leaving the White House, Mrs Ford helped reduce the social stigma surrounding addiction and inspired thousands to seek much-needed treatment.”
Betty Ford was always hugely praised in her lifetime for raising awareness of breast cancer. She happened to be the boisterous supporter of the Equal Rights Amendment.
