James Franco will not be present in New York City on Tuesday for the 2011 Oscar nominations.
The actor – who will host the ceremony next month among Anne Hathaway – told The AP that he declined an invitation to appear at the announcement ceremony in favour of attending the classes he is currently enrolled in at Yale University in Connecticut.
“I will be at school. I will be at Yale. Fox Searchlight asked me if I will go to New York to be ready… in case overly I was nominated. I stated no,” he explained.
“I’m not gonna miss value to go and guess that I’m going to be nominated, but if you desire to shoot out a camera crew to Yale and wait and see if I get nominated, I’d be happy to phase out of class and say I’m especially grateful.”
Franco went on to admit that he has not yet thought about how he will process his hosting gig at the occurence and is not concerned amidst breaking new ground.
“What people don’t see is the whole apparatus behind us that’s been working on this imagine for like a year, so I trust them. I’m quitting it up to them,” he said.
“I have no desire to make my mark on the hosting gig… I’m going to do it as well as I can, but as far as writing my own lines and junk like that, it’s not where my artistic, you know, passions lie.”
He added: “I suffer no need to etch my lines to there. I be certain they’ll do a superior job and I feel fairly confident overly I’ll be able to deliver whatever they give me.”
