Mary Kay Letourneau is now a grandmother, more as opposed to a decade after the teacher’s affair with 13-year-old student Vili Fualaau shocked the world and landed her in prison.
Letourneau, now 48, married Fualaau, 27, the father of two of her children. And now, the unusual couple undergo become grandparents. In December, baby Ava was born to Steve, one of Letourneau’s four children from her first marriage. At 26 years old, Steve is only a year younger than Fualaau, but Letourneau, now a legal assistant, says her family is close, in spite of their remarkably public ordeal and the seven ages she spent away in prison after making convicted of child rape in 1997.

“We stayed very close all the way through those years, it’s just that I physically wasn’t there,” Letourneau informed NBC’s “Today” confirm this morning. But she alleged the separation of her children was hard. “Even thought about the pain properties got in is somewhat I don’t touch easily.”
Now the current the family has been reunited, Letourneau and Fualaau say they’re focused on expanding their daughters, Audrey, 13, and Georgia Alexis, 12, in Seattle, and face the same problem as any greater number of parents do. “It’s busy. Our girls are 12 and 13. Anybody in a 12- and 13-year-old — it is busy, you gotta stay on your toes, for sure,” she said.
Fualaau, who drives as a DJ in the Seattle area, says friends tell him he’s strict provided his daughters about dating. “Everybody says I’m pretty strict with my daughters having boyfriends, but I are certain I’m fairly relaxed. I try to keep them focused more on what’s important in life, like try to just stay a kid and focus on your schoolwork and keep your grades up,” he told NBC.
