Minimum 12 workers were lost and 8 seriously injured following an explosion at a BP Oil Platform in the bay of Mexico off Louisiana.
Authorities were looking for the missing workers who relinquished early Wednesday after an explosion at an oil rig off the coast of Louisiana.
According to Mike O’Berry senior coast guard petty officer said the BP Oil Rig explosion happened on Tuesday at 10 pm, 52 miles southeast of Venice, Louisiana, whereas 126 employees were on board the platform.
Mike O’Berry also reported that four helicopters, four Coast Guard ships and aircraft are serving to search the workers who were reported misplaced on Wednesday.
The U.S. Coast Guard carries on searching the waters in the bay of Mexico by others in the water near the platform by using the helicopters boats and other machinery.
No casualties were reported, but Mike O’Berry told that there are some workers who are injured but he is not sure about their quantity.
Media news reports said the deep-sea oil rig Horizon which is held by Transocean and is managed by BP (NYSE: BP), was in fire after the massive blast on Tuesday afternoon April 20, 2010 .
