The reports say that Oprah Winfrey has been awarded the honorary Oscar award at the Governors Awards in L.A. on Saturday.
Winfrey, 57, got nominated for an Academy Award way back in 1986 for her character in The Color Purple. She now bagged the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award on Saturday, which was conferred to her for her efforts to promote Hope across the globe.
While receiving the honor, Oprah said,
“I never imagined myself receiving an Oscar, certainly not for doing what I believe is a part of my calling, a part of my being.”
Further she went on adding in her speech,
“It’s unimaginable that I would be standing before you, voted by the board of governors. So when I say thank you, the thank you comes from a place deeper even than I know, because it’s not just from me, it’s from everybody who made me possible.”
At the occasion, two others were awarded – James Earl Jones and Dicks Smith.
