On Wednesday, Venus Williams withdrew from the mammoth tennis tournament, ‘U.S Open’ after she got to know that she was suffering from the autoimmune disorder Sjögren’s syndrome. Talking about her sister, other sister Serena Williams said that Venus’ condition is now on way to improvement and she stays positive.
In an interview, Serena, 29, told the media that Venus was doing great and improving. Serena defeated Belarus star Victoria Azarenka at the U.S. Open in New York.
She went on saying,
“It’s a day at a time kind of a thing. Her spirits are good, however.”
The fact remains that around four million Americans suffer this disorder called Sjögren’s syndrome that causes joint pain and exhaustion. It is also said that this disorder may also affect Venus Williams’ tennis career.
Serena Williams also stated,
“Tennis is great, but [Venus's illness] puts everything in perspective. I love playing tennis and I love the battle, but I realize that life is so precious and it isn’t all about tennis.”
