Shakira and boyfriend Antonio separated after 11 years of dating

Shakira and boyfriend Antonio de la Rua have revealed that they have separated after 11 years of dating.

The pair split in August 2010, according to a letter penned by the couple to the Spanish newspaper El Pais.

“Since August 2010, we made a mutual decision to take time apart from what i read in our romantic relationship,” reads the letter. “We view the period of separation as temporary and as a time of individual growth as we stay to be partners in our business and professional lives.”

The letter goes on to say that de la Rua will continue to fulfil his duties as the singer’s agent.

“We move forward as partners, developing projects together, making an attempt hand in hand and in close communication,” the letter adds. “Our friendship and knowing of one one more is unwavering and indestructible.”
