Steve Martin has posted a series of jokes on Twitter while supposedly on jury duty.
The comedian began posting normal updates under the tagline “REPORT FROM JURY DUTY (sic)” on Monday, causing a large number of uneasy followers to point out that the actor’s comments could easily land him in trouble.
On Monday, Martin wrote: “REPORT FROM JURY DUTY: defendant looks like a murderer. GUILTY. Waiting for opening remarks,” before adding: “REPORT FROM JURY DUTY: guy I thought was up for murder turns out to be defence attorney. I bet he murdered a person anyway.”
Later posts included: “REPORT FROM JURY DUTY: Prosecuting attorney. Don’t like his accent. Serbian? Going amid INNOCENT. We’re five minutes in,” as well as: “REPORT FROM JURY DUTY: Now forcing my autograph on other jurors. Also starting whisper campaign of innocence established on Magic 8 Ball.”
Martin’s spokesperson confirmed to Reuters that the star is indeed on jury aim at an unnamed court, but that he is still awaiting choice and so his comments are not based on a real trial.[ad#Google Adsense]
“He is not actually tweeting over a trial but is on jury duty,” the rep said. “He’s making jokes that are really funny – nothing actually factual though.”
The spokesperson moreover revealed that Martin has not yet been “kicked out” of the jury pool.
