presumed dead in his laboratory building and embedded in a wall that was probably not the victim of a random act, police said Monday in an attempt to ease fears about the safety of students.
Police found the body about 5 pm Sunday, in what was to be 24 years old Annie Le wedding day. He was reported missing on Tuesday, and his identification, money, credit cards and wallet were found in his office on the third floor of the high security building in the Yale medical school, where the body was found.
An autopsy was under way Monday to verify the identity of the body, which lies in pursuing _ a break wall, where they run public services and cables. Police would not say Monday whether they have a suspect but said no one is in custody.
“We will not believe it’s a random act,” said Officer Joe Avery, a police spokesman. He declined to give further details but said no one else is in danger.
The building where the body was found is part of the complex of medical school at the University about a mile from the main campus of Yale University and is accessible to the staff of Yale identification card. About 75 video surveillance cameras screen all doors.
“It’s a scary thought that there is a murderer walking around campus,” said 20-year-old Muneeb Sultan, a chemistry student. “I’m shocked that occurred in a building at Yale who had key card access. It is really sad.”
Police have not provided any information on the state of the body found or how the woman died.
